Studio Rules & Etiquette
To ensure a safe, professional and peaceful experience at Opal Garden Hair Studio, please follow these studio rules when visiting our home-based space.
Attendance & Scheduling
- • Booked Clients Only: We serve only individuals with confirmed appointments. To maintain a peaceful session, our studio cannot accommodate children or additional guests waiting inside.
• Arrival & Departure: Please use our designated pick-up and drop-off point. Friends or family members are not permitted to wait within the studio premises.
• Health & Safety: For your comfort and ours, smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited on site. Hot food may not be consumed within the service area.
• Cleanliness: Any food packaging or rubbish brought onto the premises must be taken away by the client upon departure.
• Business Protection: Soliciting, the resale of goods, and busking are not permitted. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding stalking; it is a criminal offence, and all offenders will be prosecuted.
• Legal Compliance: We operate in full compliance with the New Zealand Fair Trading Act, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1986, and all relevant NZ consumer laws.

Allergies & Patch Tests
Maintaining rigorous hygiene and safety is our priority. A mandatory patch test must be conducted 48 hours prior to any chemical or colour service; we will refuse service without exception if this is declined. It is the client's responsibility to disclose all allergies before starting. For colour treatments, hair must be clean and washed within the past 7 days. If hair is dirty upon arrival, a $60 cleansing fee will be applied to cover the extra time utilized, the disruption to following clients, and the resulting loss of earnings. Severe matting incurs a $120 detangling fee. It is essential that all clients arrive clean, specifically with freshly washed hair. We strictly enforce a no-lice policy; if lice or eggs are discovered, the appointment will be cancelled immediately. A official doctor's clearance is required before any future booking can be made. We follow strict cleaning protocols between every client. Clients must inform us if they are unwell. We reserve the right to refuse service for safety.
Studio Etiquette & Care
Welcome to our sanctuary of craft and conservation. Opal Garden Hair Studio proudly operates as a zero paper waste environment, managed with a commitment to strict economical and ecological sustainability. As a visitor to our home-based studio, we require your active support in protecting this mission. We ask all clients to treat this space with the utmost respect. To assist our flow, please wear dark clothing for colour and front-opening attire for upstyling. Kindly remain seated safely and refrain from recording; help us safeguard our equipment and privacy. Respect our earth.
• Respect for Time: Please arrive on time so we can give your hair the full attention it deserves.
• Quiet, Calm Space: This is a focused, one-on-one studio. Please keep phone calls and noise to a minimum.
• Children & Guests: For safety and comfort, only the booked client may attend the appointment unless agreed in advance.
• Sickness: If you are unwell, please reschedule. This protects both you and other clients.
By booking an appointment, you acknowledge and agree to these terms. Any clothing damaged by colour or products during the service is not our responsibility, and clients should avoid wearing white, delicate or expensive fabrics (such as cashmere or silk) and instead wear suitable attire for colour or upstyling services.
Booking & Cancellation Policy
As established industry experts at Opal Garden Hair Studio, we are fully committed to delivering superior results through our bespoke long-hair design services. To protect the professional standards of our home-based environment, visitors are expected to adhere strictly to our operational guidelines. We ask for punctuality and an honest disclosure of your hair’s full chemical history to achieve the safest, most effective styling. Please note that our rates reflect the precise time and quantity of high-end products required; therefore, clients with exceptional hair length or density may incur additional material charges. For special occasion styling, please arrive in attire that can be removed without disturbing your hair, such as a front-fastening shirt. As we operate from a private residential space, maintaining a calm and quiet atmosphere is essential for all guests.
Please be advised that we do not hold in-store credit, and all services or combos are final and cannot be modified from their original listing. There are no refunds provided for any services rendered. In the event that a redo is necessary, these are exclusively offered on Tuesdays between 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm.
There is to be no busking, resale of goods, solicitation, stalking or harassment on or around the premises; that such behaviour may be a criminal offence; and that Opal Garden Hair Studio adheres to all relevant health and safety acts, consumer laws and fair trading laws in New Zealand.
